Hurricane the Size of Texas

Yeah, everyone here was worried that the hurricane would be a direct hit, but it ended up turning north and hitting Houston instead. Unfortunately, they should have been as paranoid as San Antonio. There is some search and rescue missions underway to save some people who never thought that it could happen to them.

I wasn't worried, but I must say that I need to get renter's insurance. It's so cheap, and now I actually have things to worry about. That's my top priority this week, once I get a chance.

I've gone back to gaming. Raffy and I packed up alot of things, and we're still waiting to hear back from the new apartments if we were approved. I sure hope so, we don't want to stay here, and I can't think of a better place I'd like to be.

I'm playing Alundra on playstation. It's a total ripoff of Zelda, and I love it. There's alot of puzzles to solve, like Legend of Gaia, and it has a similar setup. I am going to finish as many games as I can in between now and the move.

My body is really changing. I still haven't lost weight, but I look much better. It will come - I've discovered that stress really does impact my weight. I stopped listening to election coverage. What will be will be. I'm going to vote, and that's it. I've also been sleeping earlier, and I notice that I can relax more.

I feel like going back to play more now. I took a break to do my post. I know how special that must make my readers feel. :D

What What in the .. nevermind

I do like the new apartment. I did some more packing (I'm running out of things to pack!).

Last week I was talking about the upcoming election with some friends at lunch. I decided that I'm tired of the media - hanging on their every word to figure out which candidate I feel is a better choice. So I went to both websites - McCain and Obama, and I read through all the issues. I analyzed everything, and made my choice.

I highly recommend if anyone is going to vote to go to both sites, read about the issues that concern you and decide. With all this "starpower" in the media, it's hard to determine how a candidate thinks when all they want to do is dissect your family and make up rumors about your past that aren't true.

In the end, I have to go with Obama. If he accomplishes 1/3 of all the goals he has set for president, I think our country will be far better for it. I was paying attention to McCain in the Primaries, and when I went to his site, he stole good ideas from Obama and made them his own. Every sentance starts with "John McCain..." and it's mostly fluff. Obama's views were clear, outlining the problems, and addressing them with a solution.

In my own opinion, McCain is making emotional appeals to the voters, along with a VP candidate who is trying to rock the "star power" aspect, and who only has extreme right wing views and claims to be a maverick. I think they need to look up the definition of that word - for neither of them are mavericks to me.

Everyone needs to use their own judgement to choose, but mine is purely on the issues and new ideas for our country. I'm going to do the early voting. And I'm sharing this with my friends, to let them know how I think, and hopefully they feel the same and go to the polls too.

I'm going to go play Alundra now. I started that game, it's alot like Zelda. I'm having fun with it!

Later!

Adventures of Leah

Wow - I didn't realize it had become that many days since I posted.

Benihana was pretty fun. Raffy and I sat with a group of 6 who knew each other - a mom and dad with their grown son with girlfriend, and daughter with husband - the husband who was an incredible ass. They had a baby with them, but it was tucked away behind the table somewhere sleeping.

Our chef had a really high pitched voice - I had a hard time understanding him, but he did most of the little cooking tricks. He loved picking on Raffy! Raffy got shrimped several times with shrimp tails.

But the whole time the Ass kept trying to impress everyone with his knowledge of "what was to come" and was really spoiling the effect of just letting the chef perform. "Oh - here comes the train!!! -- and -- Eh, it's an okay volcano.... Ha ha ha - now YOURE the one he's going to pick on..." This went on and on and on. I just ignored him, and I could tell the family was trying to as well. I kept looking at his poor wife thinking, You married That. Ha ha ha.

I got a free bowl of strawberry ice cream, and Raffy and I shared our meals - chicken and fillet mignon. It was delicious and we will definitely go back!

So I had a good week off. I went with my friend and got my nails done at this upscale mall - which I will live much closer to in the next couple months. Last week I went to the gym, and I got sick on Thursday - a virus that's been going around.

This weekend Raffy and I accomplished so much! We went to Mesa Ridge and got our application in, then we threw out our broken couch, rearranged the apartment, cleaned and packed a good majority of our things. We know exactly what we need to do, how long it will take, and we're pacing ourselves. Raffy just started a new semester of school, and he's ready to push through the last semesters.

I promised some pictures of our new place. This is exactly the model Raffy and I viewed when we went to the apartments a couple months ago. They all have hardwood floors now:
