Thank you for the shout out for Raffy's B-day Alice. That made him very happy! We had a great week last week.
We went on a huge shopping spree last Saturday. Raffy did a great job at work saving a huge project, that his company gave him $250 in gift cards. We got to pick. Raffy gave me $100 at Zales, we chose $50 at Benihana, $25 to AMC theaters, and the rest at Borders.
We went to Borders and I bought a bunch of cool things in a clearance sale. I got the Narnia series for 50% off, a couple cool interactive books for $3 each, a Velveteen Rabbit storybook with a plush Rabbit (looks just like in the book!), and we bought the Barbeque U guy's Indoor Grilling recipe book for $8.
We still have about $50 for Raffy to buy manga, but he wanted to do it online so he could finish some of his neglected series.
Then we went to Zales, and they were having a clearance sale too! 50% off then 30%, and 60% then 30%. I got three things: I got a couple of latch-back earrings. One is a princess cut sapphire with diamond accent, and the other is a solitare emerald cut white topaz. I also purchased a set of white sapphire earrings and necklace with the journey style - Lemme get a picure:
This set I got in Sapphire, and it was white gold for the metal.
This is white sapphire, and I got matching earrings. They're only about the size of my thumbnail, but I like the look.
This I got in white topaz (slightly bluish, but white) and minus the diamond accents, they look like this picture.
I came home, and when I looked through all my jewelry I noticed that I never wear most of it and I have some really nice things. I decided to go for it. Why wait for a special occasion? They never come up and I always forget about it. So I cleaned everything, and I vowed to wear a different pair every day.
I want to buy a peridot and an emerald set, and I'll be done. I already have ruby earrings, and I don't want diamond. Not after I learned how the diamond trade works. Even though alot of dealers promise that their diamonds are not blood diamonds, they cannot guaranty 100%. That's enough for me to go with something else as a consumer.
Anyhow, I'm going to go read me some Narnia. Later.

Snazzy jewels, Leah. Very pretty. I'm slightly jealous.
I'm so used to wearing cheap crappy jewelry that costs at most ten bucks a pop, that I can't hardly imagine what it's like to wear anything else.
...Not true, actually. I do that that beautiful necklace from your wedding, but I feel bad everytime I wear it, like I'll break it, lose it, or have it stolen somehow. It is very nice...
I think I know what you would like to have the next time I get you a gift. The latch back earrings make it so nice, because you know they won't fall off! And they are very classy.
I understand about the necklace. It has a very delicate chain. But earrings are nice because you see them in the mirror, and they are kind of out of the way.
That, and I'm kinda an earring slut when it comes to jewelry. The bigger the better, for me. And I KNOW that gets expensive (and heavy) fast if you're going for the real goods.
Hey, pretty! The latch backs are very classy. They're usually longer than normal. I really like that style.
My jewelry collection is still kinda small. I'd say I like the cheap stuff, because I don't have to worry if I lose it, but I'm usually allergic to it anyway.
But I have great pearls that Matt got me for valentines day! And the pretty necklace from Leah, and some things from my Dad...
Come to think of it, I bet I have more holed up in our safe in Goodyear. Oh wells.
